2. What information we collect

Information you give us. When you contact us, request a quote, or place an order, we may collect your name, phone number, email address, organisation, and the details of what you want made (quantities, designs, logos, deadlines). If you send us artwork or a logo, we receive that file too.

WhatsApp. The quote and contact buttons on this website open a WhatsApp chat with ZBM. This website does not store what you type into those buttons. Anything you send in WhatsApp is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own terms and privacy policy, and is received by ZBM staff. We only see the information you choose to send, plus your WhatsApp number and profile name.

Information collected automatically. This website uses Google Analytics to measure how it is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are, what kind of device and browser they use, and how they reached us. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. Section 5 explains what is collected and how to opt out.

What we do not collect.This website does not use advertising pixels, and we do not collect visitors’ IP addresses ourselves. As with any website, the servers that deliver our pages to you necessarily handle your IP address to do so, and our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs for security and reliability. We do not use those logs to identify or profile you. Google also receives some information directly from your browser through Google Analytics and the Google Maps on our Contact page, as explained in section 5.

We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are under 18, please ask a parent, guardian or your school to contact us for you.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

  • respond to your enquiries and prepare quotations;
  • produce, deliver and invoice your order;
  • follow up on quotes and keep you updated on your job;
  • meet legal, tax and accounting obligations;
  • protect our business against fraud or misuse.

We use the Google Analytics statistics described in section 5 to understand how the website is used and to improve it.

We will only use your information for these purposes, or for another purpose that is clearly related, unless we ask for your consent.

4. Our legal basis

We process your information because:

  • you asked us to (responding to an enquiry or quote, carrying out an order);
  • we have a legitimate business interest (running our business, following up on quotes, and understanding how our website is used), balanced against your rights;
  • the law requires it (record keeping, tax); or
  • you gave consent (for example, to receive marketing messages). You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Cookies, Google Analytics and Google Maps

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to see how visitors use this website so that we can improve it. When you visit, your browser loads a small script from Google, which sets cookies on your device (their names begin with _ga) and sends information to Google. This includes:

  • the pages you view, how long you stay and what you click;
  • the website, search or advert that brought you here;
  • details of your browser, device and language;
  • your approximate location (country and city), which Google works out from your IP address;
  • a random identifier stored in the cookies, which tells repeat visits apart from new ones.

We see this information as statistics and reports. We do not use it to find out who you are, and we do not combine it with the details you give us when you enquire or order. We do not use this website to show you advertising. Google handles the information under its own privacy policy, and may store and process it on servers outside Zimbabwe. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services.

How to opt out. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The website works the same either way.

Other cookies. Apart from Google Analytics, the only cookies set on this website are essential login cookies used by ZBM staff when they sign in to our private admin area. They are not set for ordinary visitors.

Google Maps. Our Contact page shows embedded Google Maps for our Bulawayo premises and our Harare head office. These maps are provided by Google, and your browser loads them directly from Google when you view that page. For this feature, Google may collect:

  • your IP address, which can indicate your approximate location;
  • details of your browser and device;
  • the address of the page you are viewing (our Contact page);
  • how you use the map, such as zooming, moving it or asking for directions;
  • cookies that Google sets, or that your browser already holds for Google (for example, if you are signed in to a Google account).

ZBM does not receive any of this map information. Google handles it under its own privacy policy. If you prefer not to share it with Google, you do not need the maps: our addresses and contact details are also shown as plain text on the Contact page and in section 1.

6. Advertising

We advertise on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. We do not send personal information from this website to Meta. We use the results Meta reports for our ads, together with our own sales figures, to decide what to promote. If you interact with our ads or Facebook and Instagram pages, or message us there, Meta handles that activity under its own privacy policy, and ZBM staff receive any messages you send us.

7. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. The information you give us is shared only with:

  • Our staff, who need it to handle your enquiry or order;
  • Couriers and suppliers, where needed to produce or deliver your order;
  • Authorities or advisers, where the law requires it or where needed to protect our legal rights.

Google receives the website usage information described in section 5. We do not send the personal information you give us to Google Analytics, or to our website hosting, database or image storage providers. Conversations you start in WhatsApp are handled by WhatsApp (Meta), as described in section 2.

8. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and order information for as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up, and for the period required for tax and accounting records. After that we delete or anonymise it.

9. How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access-controlled internal systems and secure, encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will act promptly if something goes wrong.

10. Your rights

Under Zimbabwean data protection law, you may:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date;
  • ask us to delete your information, where we no longer need it;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses, including direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent you previously gave.

To make a request, contact us using the details in section 1. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us so we can put it right. You may also complain to the Data Protection Authority, which is currently administered by POTRAZ (Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe).

11. Links to other sites

Our website may link to other sites, including social media pages and WhatsApp. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the “Last updated” date at the top. If we make a significant change, we will make that clear on the website.
